A Review of the 2004 AGM held at Compton Bassett Village Hall

The AGM began on the Friday night at the White Horse Compton Bassett, with a three course meal, attended by 32 members.  However, the meal could have been a potential disaster had it not been for the last minute arrangements made by your secretary Alan Trinder.

After the meal, members made their way to the adjoining indoor skittle alley.  With suitable liquid refreshments at hand the men challenged the ladies to several matches.  It was felt that the outcome was  satisfying one.

The following day, started at 1200hrs with an exhibition of various memorabilia, at the Benson Hall Compton Bassett.  A buffet lunch was provided prior to the official AGM starting at 1430hrs.  By which 80 members attended a lively discussion, which continued till 1600hrs.  At 1800hrs the evening started with a buffet and disco.  Bill Aylett, who during the night ran several raffles, and competitions, undertook MC for the evening.  The Saturday drew to an end at 2330 hrs.

At 1030hrs, Sunday morning, as members arrived at the All Saints Church, Yatesbury, the bells were pealed by bell ringer's the RAF Yatesbury Association Standard was blessed and dedicated by Reverend Lyn Morris.  The Royal British Legion and Yatesbury Association Standards were then paraded into the church whereby a remembrance service followed, conducted by Reverend Lyn Morris.  During the service, the readings were taken by Tony Gernon and Brian Saunders.  At the conclusion of the service the Last Post was sounded by Mr Paul Curtis and wreaths were laid in the Churchyard.  Light refreshments afterwards were provided in the Church Hall.
